Leah Downing Art

Leah Downing (b. 14 April 1992) is a British Artist from Worcestershire. She graduated from Loughborough University in 2014, with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art. Downing works predominantly using the medium of oil painting, but additionally produces LED Lightboxes using her digital paintings. Her art focuses upon the alliance between science and art, exploring aesthetic properties found within chemistry and the cosmos. Influenced by science fiction and portrayals of space, the unseen is made visible and false landscapes are produced.

Downing’s work has been featured in many exhibitions, including Saatchi’s online Life Aquatic Collection; in addition to being one of 20 artists shortlisted for the Work’s in Print Art Graduate Prize, which was exhibited at Herbert Smith Freehills in London. She was awarded second prize in the Glendonbrook Enterprise and Innovation Award 2014, is long listed for the Signature Art Prize 2015, and has pieces displayed in private collections in both the UK and the USA.

Downing is currently a member of 'The Studio' , an enterprise which assists Loughborough graduates to develop sustainable businesses.
